Malinda Lamb

President (At Large)

Malinda Lamb works for the Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services (DCS). Prior to her position with the Sixth District she worked with Johnson County, Iowa to implement the Jail Alternatives program.

Malinda received her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia in May 2005, with an emphasis on mental health. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker(LISW), International Advanced  Alcohol and Drug Counselor (IAADC) and a Sex Offender Treatment Professional (SOTPII). Malinda also maintains membership in several professional associations and has also been active in other community and agency organizations, boards, and committees focusing on mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring issues of correctional clients, as well as those who have committed sexually based offenses.

Gabe Gluba

Vice President (At Large)

Gabriel (Gabe) Gluba is a licensed master’s level social worker and has a Master’s in both Social Work and Criminal Justice from St. Ambrose University; a BA in Sociology and Philosophy from Mount Mercy College. Gabe has been a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor since 2006 and also has a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from GreenProfit Solutions, Inc. His previous work experiences include 16 years with the Area Substance Abuse Council servicing in Linn, Clinton, and Jackson Counties and during his tenure with the agency in various positions including patient support, outpatient and residential treatment positions, and the last 3 years as the Director of Clinton/Jackson Clinical.

Gabe also worked at Foundation 2 in Cedar Rapids from 2005-2013 as a Mobile Crisis Outreach and Crisis Line Counselor. For the past 2 years, Gabe has worked as a school social worker and is currently the District School Social Worker for the Clinton Community School District. Gabe also works part-time at Bridgeview Community Mental Health Center in Clinton, providing therapy as well as coordinating their co-occurring program. Gabe has served on a number of local and state-level boards and committees, including the Clinton/Jackson Early Childhood Iowa Board member and Iowa Council on Homelessness.

James Gibbons

Treasurer (IADC)

James Gibbons is an Addiction Therapist (IADC) at UnityPoint Health – New Horizons in Muscatine, Iowa where he has helped others recover for the past six years. He recently received his Master’s degree from the University of South Dakota in 2021 in Addiction Counseling with Co-occurring Disorder Specialization. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2017. James is currently the treasurer for the Iowa Board of Certification and is also on the training committee, as well as the executive committee for IBC.

For the past 12 years, James has dedicated his life to studying the science of addiction, learning new counseling methods/theories, researching new ways on how to create positive change, and advocating for improved mental health/addiction treatment in the state of Iowa. He has been involved with several local, state, and national boards including the American Counseling Association and NAADAC, National Association of Addiction Professionals.

Megan Vranish

Secretary (At Large)

Megan is a licensed independent social worker and certified alcohol and drug counselor.  She began working at Abbe Center for Community Mental Health in 2007 providing community-based services. After receiving her MSW from St. Ambrose University, Megan has been involved in developing the Integrated Health Home and more recently, overseeing the Certified Community Behavioral Health grants. Currently, Megan is working as the Director of Operations. Megan’s career has largely focused on integrated care, population health, and quality improvement activities across the organization.

Megan is also an active participant in collaboration to coordinate community efforts to address social determinants of health. In addition to serving on IBC’s Board of Directors, she also serves as the chair of IBC’s Ethics Committee.

Joni Howland

(Represents Acadamia)

Joni Howland joined Mount Mercy University in 1995, acting as Program Director since 2007. Prior to joining Mount Mercy, she spent the majority of her career working with adults with chronic illness, specifically in the areas of HIV/AIDS, cancer, and cardiac disease.

 

Professor Howland has held several leadership positions in the Iowa Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and developed and piloted a healthcare access program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She has served on a number of state and local boards and is currently the co-chair for the Linn County Community Services Board.

Faraji Hubbard

(Represents PRS)

Faraji Hubbard is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS), Recovery Coach Professional (RCP), and Recovery Coach Professional Facilitator (RCPF). He was the first in the state of Iowa to achieve the Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) designation from CCAR’s Center for Addiction Recovery Training. Faraji is a member of the Iowa Peer Workforce Collaborative’s Peer Advisory Committee and an appointed Steering Committee member of The State of Iowa Department of Health and Human Services’ Hope and Opportunity in Many Environments (HOME) Project.

Faraji contributes to the movement to integrate Peer Support Services into the various facets of healthcare through his facilitation of training Peer Support Specialists and Peer Recovery Coaches at the Iowa Peer Workforce Collaborative, a project of The University of Iowa School of Social Work. His current role at the Abbe Center for Community Mental Health is Comprehensive Recovery Coordinator at GuideLink Center in Iowa City. GuideLink Center is one of the designated Access Centers in Iowa and provides immediate access to substance use and mental health services. His leadership role enhances peer services and care coordination internally but also promotes the important role lived experience has in healthcare and how it enhances the care of those seeking help.

Kim Kautz

(At Large)

Kimberly K. Kautz, received her bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University, a licensed addiction therapist (IADC) with over 20 years of counseling experience in working with the youth, men & women in residential, outpatient, jail, and detox programs. Currently, employed with Zion Integrated Behavioral Health Services men’s residential treatment facility in Clarinda Iowa.

Kim has a deep dedication to the field of substance abuse. Currently the longest-standing member of IBC’s Ethics Committee partnering with impressive individuals to collaborate on cases effectively, seeking to maintain a higher quality of professionalism for persons receiving substance abuse treatment services.

Board membership is a form of community leadership and service that allows me to collaborate with other enthusiastic individuals to address complex challenges in the field. My interest in serving as a board member reflects my deep-seated commitment to the field of substance abuse.”

Daniel Koch

(At Large)

For the past few years, Dan Koch has served as a Care Coordinator at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. He routinely visits with and refers people to community resources for many types of issues related to substance use and mental health.  Prior to his current position, he spent time representing a laboratory specializing in substance abuse testing, and a company that coordinates psychiatric telehealth visits with patients in a variety of hospital, clinical, and incarceration facilities. As a counselor at MercyOne- 1st Step in Des Moines for 8 years, he was involved in the integration of the mental health partial hospitalization program and the substance abuse program into the dual diagnosis program. He continues to coordinate and teach the Children in the Middle program for MercyOne.

 

He lives in Waukee, is a native of Iowa, and is a graduate of Simpson College. As a psychology major, he chose to pursue substance abuse counseling and became an Iowa Certified Addictions Counselor in 1990 and currently holds the IADC credential. He has had personal and family experiences with substance use disorders and mental health issues and several years ago was privileged to serve as a volunteer to start a Celebrate Recovery group at the church he serves. Dan and his wife, Rhonda, have two adult children who keep them busy as they launch themselves into the world, along with a very spoiled springer spaniel who rarely leaves Dan’s side when he is home.

Douglass Marberry

(Attorney)

Graduated from the University of Iowa in 1976 and Drake University Law School in 1988; among other things, Douglass served in the military for eight years between graduating from Iowa and Drake. Memberships: Iowa State Bar Association; Iowa State Bar Association Family Law Section Member and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Member; American Bar Association; American Bar Association Family Law Section Member and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Member; Association of Family and Conciliation Courts; International Academy of Collaborative Professionals; Board Member/Attorney – Iowa Board of Certification.

 

Historical: Douglass was hand-selected to be part of a small group of individuals to participate in the Polk County Pilot Mediation Program in April of 1996 and has been actively involved in mediation since that time. In 2004 he was one of thirteen individuals who were trained in collaborative law to establish a local practice group. Douglass has also undergone basic and advanced training/certification in parenting coordination. Biographical: Outside of the office Douglass loves to spend time interacting with his grandchildren, working around his acreage, boating, skiing, and traveling.

Sharaine Webster

(At Large)

Sharaine Webster, LISW, IADC, is a dedicated professional in the field of mental health and social work. As the owner of her own mental health practice and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa School of Social Work, she brings a wealth of expertise to her roles. Sharaine’s clinical interests encompass a wide range of areas, including clinical mental health, addictions, sexual health, and wellness. She provides therapy to individuals, couples, and individuals in polyamorous relationships, demonstrating her commitment to inclusivity and diversity in her practice.

In addition to her clinical work and teaching responsibilities, Sharaine plays an active role in providing clinical trainings for fellow professionals in the field. She also serves on various boards and committees, including the Iowa Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), where she holds the position of Central Branch Chair. Additionally, she represents Iowa in the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and contributes her expertise to the training and ethic committees of the Iowa Board of Certification (IBC). Sharaine’s dedication to professional development and advocacy reflects her commitment to advancing the field of social work and promoting the well-being of individuals and communities in Iowa and beyond.

Jody Weigel

(At Large)

Jody is a licensed master’s level social worker that graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree and the University of Iowa with a Master’s degree – both in Social Work. His previous work experiences include 13 ½ years with the Iowa Department of Human Services in Black Hawk and Linn Counties. He was a child protective services worker for 6 years and the last 7 ½ years as a supervisor of adoptions, child welfare, and adult protective service workers. Jody also was an Advisory Board member for the Heart of Iowa/ASAC in Cedar Rapids. He also was a school social worker for the Grant Wood Area Education Agency for 3 years.

 

After more than 21 years, Jody is now retired from his position as a professor and program coordinator at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Human Services program. Currently Jody is working part time for UnityPoint Health Systems – St. Luke’s Child Protection Center as a prevention specialist and child advocate. Jody serves on a number of local and state-level boards and committees, including the Iowa Board of Social Work Examiners since 2013; Early Childhood Iowa Board member; and on the Community Partnership for the Protection of Children in Linn County. Jody is also a standing member of the National Association of Social Workers.
