The Addiction Counselor is responsible for providing clinical evaluations for the substance abuse program. This consists of a clinical assessment and review of the client's needs based on the results of the assessment. The applicant must also provide treatment for identified individuals that require or would benefit from substance abuse treatment. Specific services would include conducting assessments for substance abuse clients, completing assessment documentation, making necessary treatment recommendations, drafting a summary letter to the court, entering and collecting data, and providing outpatient extended and intensive.
The Addiction Counselor must be certified by IBC or other approved boards and/or have the appropriate education, training or experience in the substance abuse field to conduct substance abuse evaluations and provide treatment. The applicant must have a current CADC certification.
